Support automation for Indian businesses
In India, customer support increasingly means WhatsApp. Gupshup, Interakt and WATI are WhatsApp-first platforms with chatbots and team inboxes; Gupshup and Interakt are Indian companies that bill in rupees, issue GST invoices and keep data in India, while WATI bills in rupees with a GST invoice but doesn't store data in India. With all three, Meta's per-conversation charges are billed on top of the platform fee.
If you already run a helpdesk, the AI built into it is usually the easiest win: Zoho Zia across Zoho Desk (from ₹800 a month, India data centre) or Freshworks Freddy AI on Freshdesk, which is priced per agent on top of existing seats. Yellow.ai and Observe.AI are enterprise platforms with custom pricing and long implementations — overkill for a small team.
Our take
A D2C or Shopify brand should start with Interakt or Gupshup. A business already on Zoho or Freshworks should switch on the built-in AI before buying anything new. Multilingual voice support at scale is where Yellow.ai earns its enterprise price, with nine Indian languages in our data.
