What matters when picking an AI writing tool
A general assistant does most writing jobs well. ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude all draft, rewrite and summarise, have free tiers, and bill in rupees — ChatGPT and Gemini from ₹399 a month. Before paying for a specialist copywriting tool, check whether one of these already covers what you need.
The specialist tools — Jasper, Copy.ai and Writesonic — are aimed at marketing teams that want brand-voice controls, templates and workflows. All three bill in US dollars with no Indian GST invoice, and none is cheap: Copy.ai starts at $29 a month, Jasper at $69 and Writesonic at $79. Jasper's entry price nearly doubled after its $39 plan was discontinued, and Writesonic's pricing page has shifted toward an AI search-visibility product, so confirm the writing features you want are still included.
Our take
For most Indian freelancers and small teams, a ₹399 general assistant plus careful editing beats a $70-a-month copy tool. If you also make social graphics, Canva Magic Studio is worth a look: its AI writing sits inside a design tool, it starts at ₹500 a month and it's one of the few in this category that gives a GST invoice. Whatever you use, fact-check the output — every tool here can state things confidently that aren't true.
