Is there a Jio ChatGPT offer? What Jio actually gives free, and how to get ChatGPT cheaply

Lots of people are searching for a free ChatGPT plan with their Jio recharge. As of October 2026 there isn't one: Jio's free AI deal is Google AI Pro (Gemini), and OpenAI's free ChatGPT Go year closed in January. Here's what you can actually get, and what ChatGPT costs now.

"Jio ChatGPT offer" is one of the most common searches that brings readers to this site. The short answer as of 15 October 2026: there is no Jio offer that gives you ChatGPT for free. We found no announcement of one from Jio or OpenAI, and nothing in the MyJio app offers it.

The confusion is understandable. In late 2025, two big giveaways landed within days of each other: Jio bundled Google's paid AI plan with its 5G recharges, and OpenAI separately made its ChatGPT Go plan free for a year for everyone in India. Many posts and videos reported them together, and "free AI with Jio" became "free ChatGPT with Jio". This post separates the two and explains what you can still get.

What Jio actually gives: Google AI Pro, not ChatGPT

Jio's offer is 18 months of Google AI Pro, which Jio values at ₹35,100. It's for Jio users aged 18 and above on an unlimited 5G plan of ₹349 or more, prepaid or postpaid. You claim it from the banner in the MyJio app by signing in with a Google account, once per mobile number.

Google AI Pro gives you Google's top Gemini model with higher limits, Veo video generation, NotebookLM with bigger research limits, Gemini inside Gmail, Docs and Sheets, and extra Google One storage. For most everyday tasks — writing, summarising, answering questions, working with documents — Gemini does the same kind of job ChatGPT does. If you're a Jio user and you wanted free ChatGPT, this is the closest real thing.

One condition to remember: you have to stay on an eligible 5G plan for the whole 18 months. If you move to a cheaper plan or your recharge lapses, you can lose the subscription.

The free ChatGPT Go year: it existed, but it's closed

The offer people are usually thinking of came from OpenAI, not Jio. From November 2025, anyone in India — on any network — could claim 12 months of ChatGPT Go free by adding a card or UPI as a payment method. OpenAI's ChatGPT release notes say the promotion ended on 21 January 2026. You can't claim it now, with Jio or anyone else.

If you did claim it, your 12 months run from your own sign-up date. People who signed up in early November 2025 reach their renewal in early November 2026, and the saved card or UPI is charged automatically. If you don't want to pay, cancel from Settings → Account → Manage plan in ChatGPT before your renewal date.

Airtel: the free deal was Perplexity, also closed

Airtel users searching for free ChatGPT hit the same confusion. Airtel's deal was 12 months of Perplexity Pro, a different AI search assistant, claimed through the Airtel Thanks app. 2026 reporting says it closed to new sign-ups in January 2026. Like ChatGPT Go, existing users keep their 12 months from activation.

What ChatGPT costs in India now

ChatGPT's free plan still works for anyone, on any network, with lower limits on the newest model, images and file uploads. Above it, OpenAI's pricing page for India listed ChatGPT Go at ₹399 a month and ChatGPT Plus at ₹1,999 a month when checked in late September 2026. Go raises the free-tier limits and is enough for most people; Plus adds the higher-end models and features.

For comparison, Google's AI Plus plan launched in India at ₹199 a month for the first six months and ₹399 after that. If you aren't on Jio and want a cheap paid plan, compare these two before paying for anything bigger.

Because so many people are looking for this offer, be careful with messages and websites that claim to unlock free ChatGPT with a Jio recharge. Real Jio offers appear inside the MyJio app, and real ChatGPT plans are bought inside the ChatGPT app or at chatgpt.com. Don't enter your Jio OTP, card details or UPI PIN on any other page that promises a free ChatGPT plan.

So what should you do?

If you're on Jio with a ₹349+ 5G plan, claim Google AI Pro from MyJio — it's the most valuable free AI plan in India right now. If you specifically want ChatGPT, use the free plan and move to Go at ₹399 a month only if you keep hitting the limits. If you claimed the free Go year, check your renewal date now. And if you're using any of these for work, our ChatGPT and Google Gemini tool pages cover INR billing and GST invoices for each. Offer terms here are as published by Jio, OpenAI and Google, and as reported, up to 15 October 2026; we'll update this post if Jio or OpenAI announce a new deal.
